iC-R: Possibly the most advanced Motorcycle Helmet yet!

Motorcycle helmets have taken a significant step into the future with the launch of the iC-R by Intelligent Cranium Helmets. The helmet was unveiled at CES 2025 (Consumer Electronics Show) and attracted substantial attention thanks to its advanced features and innovative design. CES, held annually in Las Vegas, is renowned as the premier venue for showcasing groundbreaking new technologies to the world.

After first presenting a concept back in 2015, Intelligent Cranium Helmets has now succeeded in developing a market-ready product. The helmets are manufactured to order and come in four models: the Economy Edition, Rider Edition, Sport Edition, and the top-tier Sport Plus Edition. Each version adds additional features to cater to different riders’ needs.

Designed to reduce reliance on mobile phones, Bluetooth systems, and action cameras, the iC-R is delivered as a complete solution, ready to use straight out of the box – with an impressive array of features.

To begin with, it includes a front-mounted 1080p camera capable of recording at 60 frames per second. Additionally, it features two rear cameras that provide riders with a 240-degree view of their surroundings. The cameras can be easily activated using voice commands.

The helmet is equipped with an integrated Heads-Up Display (HUD) with adjustable brightness, navigation functions, and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The HUD displays vital information such as speed, navigation, and incoming messages without distracting the rider.

The iC-R also has built-in sensors capable of detecting collisions. In the event of an accident, an emergency call is automatically triggered if the rider remains motionless for more than 15 seconds. The helmet also includes a proximity warning system that alerts the rider to potential side collisions or lane departures.

With so many features, one might assume the battery life would be limited, but the iC-R offers 5–7 hours of operation. Weighing 1.71 kg, it is slightly heavier than conventional helmets but remains within acceptable limits thanks to the company’s battery optimisation efforts.

Certification
The iC-R is already DOT-certified, and testing for ECE and Snell certifications is underway. The helmet is also undergoing certification processes to meet European standards, including CE marking and the RoHS directive, which ensure electronic products are safe and environmentally friendly.

For riders seeking the latest in technology and safety, the iC-R is an exciting choice – though it may not be for everyone.
